In the last few years however, webinar's have proven to become the most profitable way to conduct sales presentations. Astoundingly personal, wonderfully written.

'Into the Blizzard' is the sort of 'raconteuring', the kind of conversation best had in a booth at a diner over breakfast. With lots and lots of refills on your coffees. But it's not merely personal in the sense that we hear about his adventures re-tracing the steps of all of those Newfoundlanders a century ago. It's personal because of what he manages to weave of his own life into the tale. His plain observations. Seemingly unrelated factoids that, because of his friendly (and generous) narration, are brought together to ultimately infuse the book with real intimacy. This is not a scholarly tome. It does not rely hardly at all on numbers, or issue the standard reverent patriotic declarations. While this may render 'Into the Blizzard' too light a read for some, for me, its informal spareness was the perfect framing for the subject matter.

And of course having been affected so, I'm now off to consume Michael's fiction.

An epic journey through time and space

How do you tell the stories of the Great War? Michael Winter walks a parallel path in Europe, Turkey and Newfoundland following the steps of men of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment 100 years apart in time.

His writer's heart takes us with him as he visits Beaumont Hamel at night or Thiepval alone. The wonderful resilience of the men of the Rock, who think nothing of digging a snow fort or hunting caribou is mirrored in his own experience. Bicycling from cemetery to cemetery, we share the effort of getting from A to B in France and Flanders.

I have never read any book like this on the war. I return inspired by him to Ypres this November where I will meet up with the many members of my own family.

Thank you for this beautiful book that brings back so many memories of both France and Newfoundland. I look forward to seeing you this October in Knowlton.

Awesome book. While I don't work in the medical field, I read this on a referral. I have many years as an engineering manager in a major oil and gas corporation. I have read many books on the subject of leadership and have with worked with many personal leadership coaches over the years.

As compared to other books I've read on leadership, this book is crisply written and the messages are very efficiently delivered. I've found many books on this subject to be repetitious and unnecessarily dependent on complex multi-step procedures..to the point where I would move on. This book is written at the level of principles that quickly resonated with my own situation, in a way that I'm likely to retain without having to refer back to the "text book" for guidance.

While written in the context of a medical practice, every concept in this book is universally applicable. Even the examples were easy for me to translate and extrapolate into my own work environment. The concepts resonated for me and my own experiences. I could see areas where I was already competent, and these were reinforced, and areas where I can re-examine my approaches or to remember approaches that I had forgotten or grown lax in.

I particularly liked the way common leadership mistakes are prominently sprinkled throughout the book. I also particularly liked the emphasis on personal coaching skills to elevate the capabilities of the people that work for us ..I would challenge any leader, whether it be through influence or through org chart status, to not find areas where changes in our own approaches can dramatically change the course of struggles and challenges in our own situations.

A must read for medical professionals.

If you have ever worked in the medical field, this book is for you. I have worked in various outpatient clinics throughout the years and have seen, first hand, both the triumphs of great leadership and the pitfalls of leadership gone awry--as well as the subsequent fall out upon the employee culture and patient care.
There are FEW books each year that are published that actually provide concrete and sound advice with STEPS that one must take to achieve SPECIFIC goals. There are so many cheerleader, you can do it, have a positive attitude, rah rah rah books out there....This book is not one of THOSE books. This book is UNIQUE in that the advice, examples, and steps taken come out of years of actual success in the medical field. The information comes from two very successful professionals who have not only taken these steps, but have witnessed unprecedented growth and patient satisfaction happen in an actual Medical Practice/Group. They didn't need to write this book because their businesses weren't doing well--they wrote this book to share information with Medical Professionals so that they can not only become a competent leader, but also so that they can improve office culture, patient care, and ultimately the lives everyone involved.
I am very impressed by this book. It is practical and easy to read.
I am already implementing policies based on the information I have gleaned.
This is a book that is worth your time. And while it is not an expensive purchase--we all know that time is money.

Great book for physicians and physician leadership programs!

As a doctor who works to help other doctors who are burned out and weary of “being a doctor”, I interact with many physicians who want to better understand how to lead within their own practices or within health systems. We learn a lot in medical school but leadership is implied more than taught. In this book Suzan, an executive coach and Scott, a physician, use their own experiences to provide a practical guide for others within healthcare. Purposefully examining how one relates to others and then engages those around them is one of the highlights of this book. That’s because the new healthcare environment is based on collaboration, teamwork and value based care, measured by outcomes. The ramifications of the new environment are that reimbursement and personal fulfillment in one’s own work and career will be driven by knowing how to authentically relate to others and get those around you motivated.

The best way to approach this book is to do what the authors suggest and glance through it, pick out what resonates for you and work on applying it. I found that reading certain chapters helped put context around the topic rather than just picking out paragraphs here and there.

Physicians and physician leadership programs should benefit greatly from this book. Scott describes his transformation and how he felt threatened and annoyed at first as he was forced out of his comfort zone. A product of the medical education system, it took some time to overcome the linear, rational and sometimes detrimental perspective he had. But by doing so, he describes how he was successful in achieving more than he thought would be possible in his practice, career and life.

An inspiring, quick read.

This was a free Kindle download. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick, easy read. Some of the advice is pretty obvious if you have been feeling the financial crunch for a while, but some was interesting and new to me. The light style of writing makes even the old advice refreshing. I feel inspired to try budget and keep within our spending limits now. There are various links to other helpful sites and forms throughout the book, which are great. I would have given 5 stars but there are a few errors in the text, which detracted slightly from the quality. Look forward to reading more from this author.

Sweet and sexy treat for the Holidays

What a great little holiday romance! I love lesbian werewolf stories and Christmas and this give both. Nicely atmospheric, with a tightly focused story, it delivers a lot for three dollars. I'd enjoy seeing more of Mandy and Paige. If you like werewolf fics, check it out!

Cute, short romance:)

Picture this, it's Christmas time and Mandy is just downright unhappy in her relationship because her girlfriend doesn't seem to want to make too much effort. Then her girlfriend arrives home with what she thought would be a beautiful present for Mandy, but it seems she has not really been listening to what it is that Mandy really wants. All of a sudden Mandy finds herself alone on Christmas Eve, with no girlfriend and a new wolf to look after, yes I said wolf. As if her Christmas Eve wasn't already bad enough, can you imagine waking up in the middle of the night to find a strange woman, naked, rummaging through your drawers and taking your clothes? Well this is exactly what happens to Mandy. What will happen in this exciting novel from Bridget Essex?

I personally think that Bridget has bought a very nice story to the table here. Her writing is neat and flows smoothly. The story is well written and doesn't move too fast or too slow which manages to keep the reader engaged. I thought that the story was cute and the romance was enough that I wanted to find out what Happened next. While there was a few small errors in the editing with some minor spelling and grammar issues, it didn't detract from the story. At only $2.99AU this book is very suitably priced and well worth the read. I would suggest if you haven't yet read a Bridget Essex book then this is a good book to start with. Would be nice to see Bridget Essex write for longer with some of these short stories as I feel like there is so much more in these characters that could be explored and the concepts behind the stories are great concepts. Not five stars but sill very good if you are looking for a quickie!

Very nice!

This was a lovely love story. Wonderfully told with vivid characters and gentle sentiment. You could feel the connection all the way through. The werewolf part was almost like a touch of added spice. Like adding a touch of cinnamon to hot chocolate. Enhancing the flavor of the story bit not overwhelming it. Romance was the main theme and it was beautifully felt from beginning to end. Great short story.

good selection of stories well written

WWII Box Set#8 contains three books : WWII True Soldier Stories Part 7 , 8 & 9 .
I appreciate reading stories about the War and the people who actually were a part of it..This book was totally about the true stories of the soldiers of the war . This book should be a required reading for history classes - just like other narrative books of actual soldiers from the war. It gives a terrific feel of what being on the front lines is about. Very good selection of stories that are well written. I could actually picturise everything as I kept reading further. I read these books with great interest and I am sure you will not be disappointed by these books if you are a fan of reading about history and true incidents from the war.
Much recommended book set . Loved reading about these men , we must never forget the sacrifice these soldiers endured.

War stories from around the world

I have to say this is one of the best gifts I have received in quite some time. I am very interested not only in my countries History but also in World History. This as titled is a collection of soldiers accounts of their experiences during War. It is also some of the back story on different events that took place during the war. In traditional grade schools the focus is on the US view with other countries depiction of what happened during a war being just grazed over. These 3 books gave very detailed accounts of things that took place all over the world. Overall this was a great collection to add to my library.

This is a great book for your WWII collection. Its part of a series but the writer, Ryan Jenkins, is adept at creating interesting, concise books tha work well alone but even better in volume format. So, any installment from the Soldier stories books are great. Once you read one you'll want to read the rest. His style, while interesting in subject matter and delivery, is concise and works well in the e-book format. In this box set, I learned more about Japan's involvement in WWII, Gabaldon who had been adopted and raised by Japanese Family and the soldier's soldier, James Gavin. These books covered so much in such a short time. That's true value!!!

Tragedy leading to love

What is it like to hate who you are? What you are? How is it to have your remaining family hate what you've become and fear you? What do you do when you're sent away from the only home you've ever known? Where do you go? How do you adapt to being a monster? How do cope when you're a mutt? Wanted by neither humans or wolves. You are all alone out on your own. How do you deal with the crippling loneliness?
What happens when you suddenly find him? How do you react? Why did you act that way? Why are you acting this way towards him? And who the hell does he think he is?
For two books vampires were mentioned, for the first time they finally make an appearance. There are some real villains in this story. Some previous MCs are also featured. It was nice and surprising for Thomas to finally make a friend. This book demonstrates in detail what happens to a human who is turned into a wolf shifter who has no one to show him the way. The series continues to be very interesting.
