Where are the illustrations?

It's difficult for me to get past the lack of illustrations. which separates this from a professionally published book. The author (or ghostwriter) who put this together gives detailed instructions for how to make craft gifts that we can't see in advance. How are we supposed to judge a gift's visual appeal? If the author had originated these designs, it would be a simple thing to snap some photographs and include them. This comes off more as a compilation of holiday crafts from various internet sources. Although there probably is some value to this content, as the gifts sound nice and the instructions look good, I would find some decent ideas with pictures and illustrations via internet search before I'd use the ones presented here.

About the Author
Arleen Spenceley graduated from the University of South Florida in 2007 with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism, and in 2013 with a master of arts degree in rehabilitation and mental health counseling from the same university. She first wrote professionally in high school, as a correspondent for the Tampa Bay Times, and joined the Times as a staff writer during college. Her work has also appeared in the Chicago Sun-Times, the Austin-American Statesman, the Journal Gazette, and the Herald Times in Indiana; the Norristown Times Herald, the Star-Courier, the Hometown Punxsutawney Magazine, and the Dispatch in Pennsylvania; the Record Courier in Ohio; the Houma Today and the Daily Comet in Louisiana; and the State in South Carolina. She has written on a freelance basis since college, including contributions to Chastity Project and a monthly column on Ignitum Today, and has contributed popular essays to Relevantmagazine.com, including "Is There Room for Erotica in Christianity?" and "Confessions of a Catholic Christian." She has also written for Busted Halo, Relate Magazine, and Lifeteen.

A dangerous book

G.K. Chesterton wrote that “the Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.” This pretty much sums Arleen Spenceley’s book on chastity.
Don’t worry, though, she does not berate, shame, or put down. But don’t be fooled, this is a dangerous book: it will challenge you, inspire you… and once you read it, you will never be able to say, “I wish someone had told me.” You’ve been told.
Arleen writes honestly about what it’s been like to live a life of chastity: not easy. However, she also writes about why it’s worth it. She explains why she has pressed in through the difficulties, the put downs, and the incredible meanness of so many who do not understand that the concept of no pain, no gain really does apply to more than sports.
From chapter 7: “… chastity is not supposed to end, ever, not even at marriage.” This book is about much more than being a virgin. It’s about loving and wondering about “what a different world this would be if people were more prepared to be good at marriage than to be good at sex.” (From chapter 2)
So, this book is for you… whether you are single, married, celibate… young or old. If you consider yourself a Christian, and your heart longs for the Christian ideal, this book will help encourage you to believe that you can do it. We can live better lives, love “with upright and undivided lives” if only we choose to aim higher than what passes for fulfillment in modern day culture.
How many of us live our lives as the child C.S Lewis describes when he writes: “We are half-hearted creatures… like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

This Book is for Lovers

Chastity is for Lovers is definitely a book for lovers of all sorts: for those who love others, whether virgins or not, and it's even a book for those who love books. Arleen Spenceley has written a surprisingly engaging, warm and wise, fun and swift-moving tome. I devoured it in one sitting, but will certainly dip back in for seconds and thirds later on. Arleen's skills as a journalist ring out as she starts and peppers each chapter with intriguing real-life stories, some painful, some humorous, and every one of them thought-provoking. She understands and clearly explains the theology behind the chastity; how chastity is a virtue, and the kind of love that it promotes shows itself in the loving way she addresses those in the majority in our culture today who hold such very different views from her own, considering a self-chosen chastity abnormal and psychologically harmful.

How odd that in our modern culture a young woman must be thick-skinned and courageous to proclaim her voluntary virginity in a way that proffers no insults to so many who choose the far more common path (about 49 times more common for American women ages 25 - 44 according to statistics she cites) that leads away from virginity. Young people today need to hear another view of sexuality that does not separate the body from soul and sexuality from love, and we older people need to hear it too. For years I taught Adolescent Psychology to young and middle-aged adults at a public university, and material like this was nowhere to be seen in the textbooks' chapters on adolescent sexuality. Thankfully Arleen has both the thick-skin and the courage that comes from caring to make this pro-life, pro-love, counter-cultural message heard.

This book shares lessons that all of us, regardless of age and of sexual experience or lack thereof, need to learn or relearn, to help heal all the damaged relationships that arise when acts of sexual intimacy are, by implication, considered too trivial and meaningless to care to do them right - with the right person, at the right time, and for the right reasons. No fingers are pointed or shaken at those who hear and live or have lived a different message, but the author does point to another beautiful way to embrace one's sexuality, whether or not one has remained chaste.

Arleen notes at the end that she dreamed about writing a book since she was in the second grade. With Chastity is for Lovers, it seems to me her dream could hardly have more delightfully come true.

A must-read - some of the most important writing I've read on the topic of sex...ever.

Call this your “Sarah said so” must-read for 2014. I laughed, I cried, I pre-ordered two copies for my nieces. This is some of the most important writing I’ve read on the topic of sex…ever. (JP2 might have her beat with TOB, but let’s not get picky.)

Spenceley cuts to the heart of the matter, and she does it with grace, style, and a smile. I found myself crying–and don’t you DARE blame hormones!–because I so wish I had been told this, had read this, had heard this beautiful truth BEFORE NOW. (OK, so I have. But not when I was her age.)

This book is courageous and wise. It’s logical and methodical, even as its softer side is strewn throughout, weaving it together.

Truly, a masterpiece. I couldn’t put it down, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Go forth and buy it for yourself!

A very impressive Change Management book for both beginners and experts in the field.

A while ago, I was able to attend a conference in Kenya visited by Nimalan Nadesalingam who delivered a change management workshop. I was very impressed not just because of his undoubted expertise in the field, but because of his ability to deliver this knowledge and experience with great charisma and humour. And this book, I am pleased to confirm, manages to capture a lot of what I saw at his workshop.

For beginners to the field, there is an opening chapter that introducers the concept of change management in a brief but powerful way. But both beginners and experienced change experts will benefit from the remainder of the book which is based around Nimalan's 7Cs of Change methodology and its supporting tools.

The 7Cs of Change is a very pragmatic methodology that is certain to become established in organisations world over. And Nimalan brings it to life with some great case studies that have some great humour in places, though at no point is the reader left distracted from the high level of expertise that is also delivered here.

Its a small book, but with a lot of good content and I really think a must have for both beginners and experts. However, if I had to be critical, I would say that some topics seem squeezed in and one or two of the tools could have done with a bit more explanation.

But its hard to be anything other than totally satisfied after reading the book as it does what it is meant to do, it tells you how to deliver changes and business transformation and it does it very well.

Excellent- practical, informative, relevant

I am a seasoned Change Management practitioner and have studied a number of Change Management theories and methodologies over the years. "Transformative Change" caught my attention and I am very glad to have read this. This is a refreshing and practical `how to' book with a model and tools that are relevant for beginners or even the most senior practitioners. What I love about this book is that the content is pithy, relevant, and does not get bogged down in the `theory weeds'. No doubt this was the authors intent and he has succeeded quite well in making this a fun and informative read.

In short, I'm very glad to have added this to my Change Management library, as I know this will continue to be a referenced resource.

Something new and well done

The book himself is well written and easy to go through.
It is exactly what you see..a pocketful full of tips and tools.
It is a must to have in case you do change management session.
Just as an extra info I also had the pleasure to assist on one of his consulting session and I can confirm that Nimalan Nadesalingam has been really effective.On my job i often deal with changes, I implemented projects and reorganization that impacts people many and many times i my professional career. I use different tools but i have to admit that Nimalan approach it is the most interesting i found until today.

Writing is so-so, but satisfies reader interest

This is a great book for furries and for anyone interested in anthropomorphic literature. Sure, it has obvious weak points, but if, like me, you are hungry for anthro literature, you will enjoy it despite its flaws.

Style: 1/5
The authors frequently use uppercase and italics to emphasize dialogue and sounds and to indicate thoughts. One reason this doesn't work is that the font has many flourishes, making uppercase words aesthetically sloppy. The second reason is that the authors overuse these techniques, weakening their effect.

The point of view also shifts frequently without any signals, making it difficult for the reader to determine whose view is being used until midway through a paragraph. In one section, events might be described from a narrator's omniscient perspective, and then in the next paragraph, one of the four characters might be making observations or voicing thoughts. When characters enter new locations, the authors do not always indicate the character surveying the environment, making descriptions of new locations feel narrated. Unfortunately, the authors lose many opportunities for character development by failing to give meaningful indications of character perspective.

The illustrations disappoint me as well. Zack, who is a cat, looks like a fox. Maybe the authors could have added whiskers to make his species more distinguishable. Illustrations sport noticeable copyright notices in the corner, which I have never noticed on other book illustrations. I can't help wondering whether these notices could have been less intrusive.

Plot: 4/5
The overall plot is predictable, but it has a decent number of original developments on the smaller scale. In many places the reader will have to accept the authors' word, and not ask questions about why things happened the way they did. Unexpected events occur without explanation, and the characters make no comments, leading to my occasional puzzlement while reading. Still, the characters do drive the plot forward as they should, and the plot speed is appropriate most of the time.

Character development: 3/5
I have a peculiar problem with Aidan Prowl in the first few chapters. At the outset of the book, he seems to be a poor imitation of Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor from Doctor Who. He does develop a distinct personality throughout the book though, and his personality develops in response to his experiences.

Zack is your typical under-assertive, learning-to-express-his-insecurities character. You will have no idea how such a shy character ends up in Aidan's house in the beginning of the book, but the authors do a good job of showing the reader how it feels to have no control of your world.

The two side characters are annoyingly difficult to figure out. Are they morally good or bad? They are antagonists at times, and sidekicks at other times. And how in the world, being occupationally inept, do they keep their jobs? I suppose, in a way, that the irony and simplicity of these characters complements the book's carefree atmosphere.

Fan satisfaction: 5/5
Yes, it's a furry book! "Trap Me" is about halfway in quality between fanfiction and your favorite science fiction author, but if you are willing to read mediocre literature for the sake of furriness, you will enjoy it. Additionally, Chris and Cooper Elkin are a pleasure to speak with, and they love communicating with their readers. Also, the table of contents is in the back, but don't you dare read anything else back there before finishing the book!

Better than you predict

Yep, I bought myself a paperback copy of 'Trap Me!' and was taken aback by the story of this novel. In fact it took me less than a day to read this book, so it tells you all about how good this is.

In a steampunk-style world, Aiden Prowl is a canine musician who wants to go to this metallic mountain in search of a mystical instrument called the 'Orb', despite the fact he needs an assistant to help him. Luckily, a feline boy named Zack accidentally breaks a window in Aiden's attic, giving the canine the opportunity to blackmail him into helping him on the journey. After that, so much happens, a secret society is discovered, bandits attack, a betrayal occurs, and unlikely allies are made while the romance between Aiden and Zack is formed.

I really love how well-developed and shrouded in mystery this world is. It's rare that I read a steampunk novel but this is a rare exception for me (aside from the Leviathan trilogy). The characters are likable, the world is beautiful, and I love how much of a good sense of humor 'Trap Me!' has without saying anything too dirty. In fact I can even see a middle school student reading this The artwork is iffy for me, but to the authors credit, it really does match the tone of the story.

However if I had a complaint to make, it would be the segues for the different points of view needs some big improvements. I'm no saying it's terrible; it's just that it's sometimes difficult for me to distinguish from what Aiden, Zack, and other characters are saying and thinking.

Otherwise, is have to give this book a 9.5/10. I'm destined to read this again!

Funny and sweet adventure

When I heard of this gay furry adventure that’s supposed to be happy, I was intrigued. Did I have doubts? Not really, I’ve read enough yaoi manga that featured wolves and bears and cats and foxes that took on humanoid features, and I enjoyed those stories. If however you have any doubts, forget them now and just read!
I’d classify this as young adult, although it’s appropriate for all ages, from middle grade to adult. Aidan and Zack’s adventure reminded me of the books I used to read when I was younger. The trials, the funny, awkward, and sweet moments, the danger and the mystery all blend together in a gripping story through a furry world where these two characters experience an adventure nofur has ever seen before.
Although understated, the love story between Aidan and Zack is evident to everybody, except them two. And even later on, only one of them figures out what’s going on. It’s beautifully told, slow paced (contrasting with the much faster pace of their adventure) and sweet. I’d use moe here, for those who know this particular Japanese term
The relic quest reminiscent of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider was a great choice – a lost artifact, former priests, a destroyed city, a map that was locked away and kept secret. The right number of adventurers comes together at the right time, yet through it all, not everything is as it appears.
A fun, easy, sweet read, with great illustrations from the two authors, Trap Me! is definitely a recommended read.

You needn't have a concussion to read this.... it's an Amazing book by a truly Amazing woman!!

What was once a "bump on the head" are now being treated more seriously. These "bumps" have been found to cause mood swings, migraines, vision loss, chronic pain, memory problems, vertigo, brain bruises and bleeds. More recently studies have found that they are connected to Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. What is this phenomenon?
Concussion

Meet Wendy Clawsey - a former model and actress, daughter, sister, mother and friend. She is also the author of this book and the unfortunate victim of a life altering concussion. Wendy writes with brutal honesty about the tragic skiing accident that left her the victim of a horrific brain injury. She writes about her life before and after the accident, how she went from living to just surviving to living again. We learn about her pain and perplexing symptoms that doctors, family and friends couldn't understand. Her riches to rags life - the loss of family, friends, jobs, relationships, money, and freedom. Nobody should have to endure the things that she went through.
I wish that everyone could and would read this book. You see, this book isn't just about what happened to Wendy but what the concussion did to turn her life around. She did her own research, spoke and visited a wide range of doctors to which she ended up finding her own "cure" and feeling healthier than she did before the accident.
Now, the book doesn't stop there. You see, Wendy is an amazing person who genuinely cares about people and their health. She dedicates a big portion of the book to us readers. Without getting all technical on us, she shares with us the research she did and the studies she read (all of which are backed by the names of real doctors). She teaches about so many aspects of the body. She gives suggestions on things to try if you are say an insomniac. There's also recipes and a journal at the end of the book to track your progress if you decide to try her recommendations. I have to say, I loved this book. I learned so much from this book. I have a lot of health problems and suffer from chronic pain. I never feel well. However, after reading this book and trying some of the things that Wendy recommended, I've started to feel some things I haven't felt in a long time - Healthy & Hopeful.
I'd like to give a Wendy Clawsey a huge Thank You for writing her story and for all her help. I wish you all the luck in the world. Stay healthy. Stay happy. Also, Thank You for the book in exchange for a review.

Inspiring read!!

I absolutely loved this novel. I found it to be beautifully written and inspiring. Wendy tells her story of how she suffered a concussion while skiing with her daughter. She also shares with us helpful tips and recipes that lead her down the road to recovery. I found this book to be very informative and a wonderful read for anyone who has had a concussion or know of someone with one. I'm giving Concussion :A True Story by Wendy Clawsey 5STARS*****

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigated the case and identified the masterminds, one of whom was a trusted employee of the postal service. Much of the loot, however, was never recovered, and several of the Newton Gang members served time and survived into old age. This is the fascinating story of their biggest heist.

The author writes a great account of a classic investigation conducted by the oldest & finest Federal Law Enforcement agency, the United States Postal Inspection Service. You will thoroughly enjoy reading this narrative of a truly challenging case history of a mail train robbery by a notorious group of old time outlaws. You will be surprised by just how much of an "inside job" it really was!
