My great grandfather Judd Walker was murdered in Ft Collins in 1935.This book had pictures of his cabin, the sheriff and Fred Hoflund the man who murdered him. Fred Hoflund was a member of our family by marriage and grandfather let him stay at the cabin because he was in the process of getting a divorce.Very interesting book would recommend to everyone..

These are just a few of the photos taken by my cousin, Mark Miller. They moved from Kansas to Colorado in 1914 and lived there the rest of their life.

Our greatgrandfather moved to Kansas in 1867, into the area then known as the deminishing Osage Indian Resorvation.

Mark had a very keen eye for outstanding pictures.

My Grandson lives in another state than I do. We Facetime regularly, hence Grandma-in-the Box. I am bedridden with Multiple Sclerosis. I was right handed all my life until MS made it useless. I illustrated this book with my left hand. Even though it looks like a ten year old drew it, I am pleasantly surprised I wanted to do something real special for Jack.

I LOVE this book! A gift to myself - and others - this Christmas!

The first in a series, this little book has captured my imagination and I am looking forward to sharing as gifts this Christmas. With pluck and determination, this animal-loving author has given us a glimpse of the pets that have mattered in her family through an engaging but simple story.

Good for kids, King Peanut - The Big Black Cat is also an inspiration for any who is - or knows someone who is - living life with special challenges. Grandma in the Box (June Ko-Dial) shows us that we should all find some way to share the stories that are in our hearts and minds.

Significantly, 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of Churchill's death and it is 120 years since the death of Churchill's father, Lord Randolph, who died on 24 January 1895. The year 2015 is also the 70th anniversary of the end of World War Two, in which Churchill played such a pivotal and dynamic role.

The book covers all aspects of ‘Operation Hope Not’ – the codename for the arrangements for Churchill's state funeral, and the details of which were only made available to the public in 1996 under the 30-year official secrets rule.

The author was given access to archive papers at Arundel Castle; the Churchill Archives Centre at Churchill College, Cambridge; the National Archives at Kew; and the College of Arms in London. In 2013 he interviewed The 11th Duke of Marlborough – who, as the Marquis of Blandford, greeted and then accompanied the mourners after the service at St. Paul’s Cathedral; on the funeral train to Hanborough; then on to St. Martin’s Church, Bladon, where Churchill's burial took place.

The author also interviewed in 2013 the Countess of Avon, Churchill's niece, who attended the funeral, and Mrs. Minnie Churchill, who attended Churchill's Lying-in-State and is the mother of Churchill's living heir, Randolph Churchill – Winston Churchill's great-grandson.

Churchill’s Final Farewell also explains aspects of state and ceremonial funerals, together with details of that of Churchill; the reasons for Waterloo Station, not Paddington, being chosen as the departure point to Bladon, where Churchill lies; and the story of his interment there. There are also particulars of special champagne served on the funeral train with a personal message from Winston – stories that the 16th Duke of Norfolk, The Earl Marshal of England (responsible for all the arrangements for Operation Hope Not), told his close friend, the great English bowler Alec Bedser.

Rodney J Croft is now a semi-retired general and vascular surgeon in London, having retired from the National Health Service in 2004. He is Dean of Clinical Studies U.K. for St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies, which has 17 National Health Service-affiliated hospitals in the U.K, used for the clinical training. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons; a Liveryman of The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries; and a Freeman of the City of London.

Editing issues aside, this was an extraordinary book of our brave sailors at sea with tales I hadn't heard before most especially the rousing accounts of the fallen heroes "Donald Owen Clarke" and "Cadet Edwin O'Hara" which were highlighted towards the beginning. Book included several pertinent photos and I found I learned some things like why merchant losses were kept hidden (to encourage men to join up) and how the SS Stephen Hopkins was the only US merchantmen to sink a German surface vessel during WW2. This passage really struck me "Like wolves looking for sick, weak or young and inexperienced prey, the subs would converge and attack." Very good book and glad I had the opportunity to read this one!

Awesome book to read

If ever there was an expert on World War 2, Ryan Jenkins is it! His vast knowledge of this significant happeningin the world's history is evidenced by the plethora of literatures he has produced on the subject. The facts and details that he presents about World War 2 in his books really leave me in awe, as they paint so vivdly the realities of the soldiers' experiences during this difficult time, and this book about sailors is no different. This book gives statistics as to the massive losses of life and equipment while at sea and speaks to the sacrifices made and conditions endured by soldiers in the Navy. It also speaks of the various types of sea vessels used and the weaponry they were fitted with. Of course, it includes a couple of experiences of some navy men and how they valiantly fought on in the face of death. The pictures of some of them are included. The name Dorie Miller, whose story is there, stands out for me because of the movie Pearl Harbour. The final chapter ont he horror of life at sea dispels the ''romantic'' and glamourous notions many have about serving in the navy. Life at sea really is gruelling and the ways to die and how many have died - gruesome and stark. Awesome book to read.
