Greg finally understands the desire to possess...to really want someone!!!

Unexpected Dreams is a story of one man's self discovery.Greg thought that being married for over 20 years,having 3 wonderful children and working like a dog to support his family was what life was all about.He truely believed that THAT was happiness until his wife left him for another man.Floored and not knowing how to move on,he meets Tanner and his entire world is transformed!!!Raised to shun gays from his strict Catholic parents,Greg's view of relationships was totally clouded...but Tanner gave him a new outlook on what he had been missing all those years and brought something unbelievable out of him...the desire to possess...to want!!!Now that Pandora's box has finally opened he is no longer possessed by fear,rules and norms preached by others.Greg discovers the reasons for his unsatisfying marriage and his true self is finally freed, feeling exhilarated.A novel about coming out of the closet when you had no idea you were in it in the first place!!!Isabelle Peterson I bow down to you on this novel and the way you touched the subject of homosexuality.A book I recommend ALL to read.Oh yeah...it's worth every star it's getting!!!It held my interest from page one until the very end!!!

you will notice that the gay sex really feels like heterosexual "normal" sex

Okay, I finished reading Unexpected Dreams from ‪#‎IsabellePeterson‬. It was interesting. Yet, I do not want to give a spoiler but I must say: The Fairchild Family is an unexpected surprise. Greg being gay is just the start of this saga. Phoebe being pregnant is a small feat, ‪#‎JackSteven‬ being a dominant alpha male is a plus; this book gives us what to expect next. I am talking about Elizabeth and Greg's children what an unexpected turn but to know what it is you must read the book. Unexpected? Sort of, the reaction of the people around Greg is what makes it uniquely unexpected. If you are interested in reading the book, you will notice that the gay sex really feels like heterosexual "normal" sex. It was no different than what I feel when reading erotica, it feels extraordinarily hot. The sex was not raunchy, actually it was hot and beautiful. I recommend it. You need to know more about the Dream series and the Fairchild family, it will blow your mind. I give it a big like-thumbs up! Go get it!

Amazing read!!!

Greg Fairchild loved his wife of 20+ years, he really did. But not the way her should have. He was working himself into an early grave to provide for his family. Or that's what he told himself. What he comes to realize is that is not the truth. He discovers something very unexpected of himself. He finally figures out what he was missing and what Elizabeth was looking for. Isabelle Peterson hit the ball out of the part with this book. But this book and follow Greg on his path of self discovery. You will not be disappointed.

I bought this story several years ago when it was originally written as taking place on a space station. Loved it so much, I bought the updated and expanded version based on a mining colony. Jade Buchanan always delivers a great read. If you enjoyed this story, check out her Wolf Creek series.

More of a pep-talk than a how-to book

As a writer, I was fascinated when I found the title of this novel on the website Story Cartel. I quickly agreed to give my honest review in exchange for a free copy of the book.

The Author spent the 20 page book (not twenty pages of text, 20 page book) explaining the five secrets to writing: Writing about what you're passionate about, start with a basic outline, find a time and place to write, resist the urge to edit as you go, and to clear out your negative thoughts.

There were a few typos scattered throughout. (In one place the author said he had a wife, in another a husband?? and explained the goal of NaNoWriMo as writing 60,000 words, when it is actually 50,000). The Author explained at the end that he had completed the first draft in 84 minutes.

While the author offers some good advice, it's not new or groundbreaking in the field of free-writing or writing in general. This advice has been readily available for the past ten years that I've been writing fiction. He never really explained how to write 5000 or more words each day, instead saying that it's all different for different people, but to just keep at it. Great advice, but not what I was expecting.

Overall I was pretty disappointed with this book. The information given is old, the style is witty, but I was very disappointed that the author never gave examples of their own experiences, or anything more than 'tried and failed, tried and failed'.

If you're new to writing, and want a quick read I'd say give this book a shot. If you're familiar with creative writing or have ever completed NaNoWriMo, you may not find anything new here.

Short and Sweet - But useful

I got a copy of this book from story cartel for the promise of writing an unbiased review.

The value in a book like this is when you read it from start to finish and you find there are one or two useful gems of information. For myself, already I don't find it too difficult to write a lot of words per day. There were quite a few of the tips in this book that were things that I do anyway. So it was nice to hear somebody else say they are doing the same sorts of things as a writer.

There were one or two ideas in the book that I liked and I am quite likely to give them a try. How useful this book is to a reader will rather depend upon at what stage you are in your journey towards being a professional writer. By professional I mean that you can write whenever you decide to write and you are not subject to getting easily put off.

This book will be helpful to you if you have to be in the right mood or find the right music to play while you are getting creative with words. It will be a good read if you need to have the wind blowing in a certain direction in order to be able to get in the creative zone and do some writing. I like to have a system or workflow where I can just do my job of writing what needs to be written.

Aspiring writer? A great use of your time!

I am a strong advocate of free writing. I've written 11 books, all non-fiction. The first few were torture, and took 2 years each; since learning to harness the power of free writing, I've written books in three months, two months, and even one month. (I'm here on Amazon, if you're curious.)

I loved Thomas Boyde's exposition of free writing in this very brief booklet. As other reviewers have noted, it is short and motivational. But it may be all you need to get yourself moving. I find that one way my inner saboteur keeps me from writing is to get me to read books about writing--the longer, the better. And by all means, read Natalie Goldberg, Anne Lamott, William Zinser, and especially, Gabrielle Rico. But recognize that reading about writing is not writing.

If you want to get moving, read Thomas Boyde's short piece and follow its cheerful instructions. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say: As a time investment, "Free Writing Made Simple" may have a greater ROI (return on investment) than any writing book you've ever read.

Not good at all.

So when I get a book on Cleopatra, I actually want to be reading about her. 10% of the way in, and I get a lecture on incest. Still no Cleopatra. I really didn't need the author's religious views and boring writing, I wanted to learn about Cleopatra.,

Pity.

Fast and easy reading.

This fantasy series is fun to read. Not a book to remember into next century, of course, but entertaining still. In this series the author has created a world full of different kind of shifters, trolls and wizards, the obligatory fight between good and bad and many nice people.
In this story we read about a dragon shifter, Vincent, and his way to happiness. Vincent has known for a while that a young vampire, Desmond, is his fated mate, but since Desmond has been difficult, Vincent had to be patient with him. Then one evening Desmond meets another man, the human Sam, who turns out to be their third. Sam’s family is apparently not very nice to Sam. They actually abuse him by taking all his earnings and at the same time treating him as a child. I laughed when reading how Vincent and Desmond rescued Sam from his family. The troll Fred plays an important role here (no spoilers from me).
Then there is the way Desmond and Sam give Vincent a child each! Hilarious.

Fun, light reading to be found here. I liked it.

I spent an enjoyable afternoon reading this one and I just got the next in the series. I did like the first one better than this one but I still liked it enough to carry on and I want to see what happens with the supporting cast of characters. This author has a very good imagination and there are a lot of interesting 'people' in her stories.

Not As Good As The First

I enjoyed the first story in this series, Eternal Fires, Eternal Loves. I loved the deep thought behind each main character and what they wanted out of life, how their situation came together, resolving old issues, and making their triad complete.

So I was checking to see when this one came out. Desmond (Vampire) and Vincent (Dragon shifter) know they're mates yet they hadn't acted on their instincts for A YEAR. In fact, in the previous story the question was phrased, "How come Vincent and Desmond are ignoring each other? They're mates!" So in this story I expected some answers to that teaser. Vincent did pursue Desmond for a bit but nothing happened. So he was leaving the choice up to Desmond. And. . . As the story advances, we still don't know why Desmond acted the way he did. He never explained himself to his mates. It was one of those inconclusive plot devices. . . And the two were living steps away from each other, working together, knew and interacted with the same people, that whole set up of both men knowing they were mates and not acting on it for a year was not believable. And of all things, once Desmond gets over himself he just gives in to sex with his mates.

Now if Desmond said he spent that year searching for their third mate. . . That would make sense. But no, he never said that.

There were a couple more instances where explanations weren't enough. Why is a fire breathing dragon affected by fire? Why is the brother spouting hatred and being a threat yet suddenly not? And the caster/wizard/warlock/mage that was brought in. He can heal one curse almost instantly and with little fanfare but not handle all the problems, yet he's stronger than the other witch.

I love the premise for the series but unfortunately this one fell short. This story didn't focus so much on the mates coming together to complete each other - Not with the way Desmond was and Vincent was so laid back. - Dan's Wife
