Once Again I Didn't Know Jack

Over 3000 locations and longer than the first book.

Again, I thought I knew what was going on and then curveball after curveball kept getting thrown in Jack's and therefore my direction. Another cliffhanger although this one isn't quite as jaw dropping as the first one.

This is reminiscent of the old tv show Le Femme Nikita and its recent remake Nikita. The concept of a black ops military-esque organization who trains people with no family or no other options to be ultra soldier agents.

The secrets and mysteries of this series is killing me! Just like Jack, I have a million questions about who, what, when, where, and why! Like who is Jack's Guardian and why hasn't he been revealed? Could he be Jack's real father? Or what exactly does the Center want from Jack? It seems like everything is some kind of test to see how he'll react. I find myself questioning everything that takes place and wondering if people are telling the truth.

Throughout this book Jack is still trying deal with the fallout of how the last mission ended. I'm glad the author actually had Jack be angry and hurt and not just have Jack and Leo magically get together again. It was an accurate representation of how someone might act if they felt betrayed by someone they cared for in such an abnormal circumstance as being part of the Center. Some parts seemed repetitive e.g. Jack having to report every night but that's how Jack and therefore I found out about how the Center was handling the case. Or rather it just brought up a bunch more questions. The last several chapters is where most of the drama happens, but the whole premise of the series is that "you don't know jack" and a mission takes time to unfold. Lots of little things that happen in the middle add up to both the drama that unfolds and the drama that just creates more questions.

After getting Jack's POV both times, it isn't him who I don't know.

Maybe in the next book we could get some of Leo's POV.

If You knew Jack is the second book of three and I absolutely loved the first book so I was looking forward to this one. I didn’t adore quite as much as the first but it was still an amazing tale.

Jack is kind of like a teenage James Bond, which is why I was drawn to the series. In the first book he met and was hurt by fellow operative, Leo McCormack. But their jobs and assignments brings them back together. There are still sparks between them but Jack is quite ready to forgive and forget.

One of my issues with this story is that it took more than a quarter of the book for Jack and Leo to actually go on assignment. There’s a lot of set up time involving Jack, Leo and others at Center headquarters. I agree it was needed but it did slow the story a bit.

However, once they go on assignment the story moves rather quickly. Their job is to protect a couple brothers, though they’re denied a lot of information.

At first Jack and Leo are reluctant teammates but before long they are unable to deny their feelings. The sex scene was scorching hot.

They made quick work of each other, passion swelling and pulsing between them, their frantic scrabble toward climax feeling more like desperation than ardor.

MC Lee does a perfect job at showing Jack and Leo’s emotions for each other. The writing is crisp and clean and things usually move at a fast pace.

Now it’s time for book three.

Sometimes good things do come in small packages.

Bahahahahahahah …….. And you thought I’d forget about my review of the next installment in The Ghost That Haunts My Bum series called The Exorcism of the Ghost That Haunts My Husbands Bum, pish posh, I don’t think so!
The Exorcism of the Ghost That Haunts My Husbands Bum picks up right where the first installment leaves off but this time, the wife is going head to head with the ghost to claim back what is hers, her husband. Now that she’s decided to keep her new and improved hubby, she’s going to have to fight for him because his heart is starting to be claimed by Mr. Ghosty. If she plans on winning this tug-o-war, she is going to have to dig into her bag of tricks and play a little dirty.
I’ll tell ya, for being only 29 pages, I am in love with this story and I can’t wait for the third one. For such a short story, the author packs one hell of a punch. Sometimes good things do come in small packages. It’s erotic, it’s engaging, it’s very tongue and cheek and I find myself smiling through the whole read but best of all is the twist at the end. I totally had the “well hell, I didn’t see that one coming” moment. It also sets up the continuation of the series, which I couldn’t be happier about. Nick, write faster damn it!!!!
I’ll say it again (cuz I can and it’s my review, LOL)…. this is a very fast read but it’s well written, spicy and definitely erotic. If you don’t mind angry wives, sexy hubbies, gay ghosts and MM/F action…..give this one a try - It's only $.99. One dollar to make you holler, LOL!!

Could you take on your husband's ghost lover?

Wes' unique haunting continues with a few twists added. Nick ramps up the sexual tension and gives us steamy and wicked interactions between Andrea, Wes and Shane. While a fun read, there's a bit of darkness that really enjoyed and of course the sex it HOT.

After reading The Ghost That Haunts My Bum there was no way I was going to pass up the 2nd installment, I was dying to find out what would happen to Wes and Andrea ' relationship vs. the ghost. In this 2nd installment Andrea is going head to head against the ghost who is in no way going to let Wes go.
I couldn't put this book down and I am dying to get my hands on the 3rd one.. Andrea seems to have gotten herself in pretty deep shiz and I can't wait to read the outcome!

This book came at the right time!

While looking for more information on post-baccalaureate pre-medical programs I stumbled upon this book. I had already done extensive research on programs, and received some guidance on the type of program I should applied to. This book was truly a lifesaver when writing my personal statements. Alicia includes some sample personal statements of students she has worked with that have successfully applied to medical school as well as post-baccalaureate programs. I was able to gain some inspiration from these passionate pieces, which helped me frame my own personal statements. I believe reading this book allowed me to show my commitment to healthcare in a clear way. Her advice was also very useful, I felt encouraged by the tone of her writing, it was very supportive, even so the advice she gives is very practical. The book also gives Case-studies of different Post-baccalaureate programs, including talking to past students and program directors, and important information such as success rate for applications to medical school. These case-studies were useful. I feel they could be even more helpful by focusing on specific questions that students commonly want answered about programs that they are considering applying to. Additionally, I would have loved to see more programs with case-studies. All in all, this book came at the right time for me. I am happy to say that the information I gained helped me submit a strong application, and gain admission to some formal post-baccalaureate programs. I even used the book after being accepted, to ask important questions, so I make the right decision and investment of time and money. I will continue to use it while completing the post-bacc and look forward to reading the books Alicia releases in the future. I highly recommend this book, whether you know all about the post-bacc admissions process or nothing about it. The book gives a lot of advice and guidance on not only searching for the right postbac programs but also applying to medical school. There are interviews, success stories, sample personal statements, etc. The chapters are very well thought out and detailed. The list of programs available, however, is not as comprehensive as I thought it would be. The author categorized the schools very well, however, I wish there were more details about whether the schools are part-time/full-time, online/on campus, informal/formal. I think that would have been very helpful.

Having had the pleasure of attending one of Graham's live trainings, which was excellent BTW, I couldn't wait to get my hands on his new book. If you want to learn how to use pictures (cartoons), as well as graphs, charts, bullet lists, and other presentation formats in a totally original way that will stick in the minds of your audience, this is the book you need to get right now. It's the ideal tool for anyone who presents, and can get their hands on a flip chart or white board.

Great book! I really CAN draw!

Great book! I found the author on youtube first and followed along with him as he showed everyone in the audience that indeed we all CAN draw! It was so fun! I got the book and filled up a note pad with drawings following his instructions. It made me so happy! This book show that you can make little simple drawings in order to make business presentations (or stories) fun. I'm going to use them to make my notes to my grandkids more fun! Check out his youtube first and you will see what I mean.

Aristocratic Manners, 101!

I was very delighted to happen upon this book, which was originally written in 1924. The author, "A Member of the Aristocracy." In its broadest sense it IS an etiquette book; but I feel it gives people an insiders view, if you will, of how aristocrats behave in society.
First, the word "Etiquette" is defined: " What is etiquette, and what does the word convey? It is a poor one itself, and falls very far short of its wide application. It has been so constantly misused and misinterpreted and misunderstood that ridicule and contempt have been most unjustly and unfairly thrown upon it." The author gives first rate instruction about making introductions, paying calls, the order of precedence and how to behave at court. You are provided with tables of pronunciation of names, how to give dinners at home as well as dinning out. The chapter on dinner-table etiquette is timeless. Those of you who have had to suffer through a meal with people who use their utensils like weapons will understand where I am coming from. Wedding planning, country house visits, being invited to shoot are here also, leaving no doubt that an Englishman or woman wrote this.
Though many will not encounter social situations such as those described in depth in this book, it is still an excellent one to have. There is quite a lot of information that can, and should be used in this high-tech, increasingly rude world.

A True Delight!

In my poring through early 20th century tomes for esoteric literature, I came across this book and was intrigued. I found it absolutely fascinating and eye-opening. Much of the present day etiquette or proper behavior we take for granted is explained. And I also learned more than I ever thought I would want to! I now feel confident that if the Queen asked me for tea, I would absolutely know how to properly conduct myself! A treasure of a book!!

This was recommended to me on a DOWNTON ABBEY Board, and it was a wonderful Reference guide. It was also a wonderful READING experience.. I found it to be a wonderful Tour Guide to help this 21st Century "Yank", navigate the Edwardian Society of the early 20th.

4 Hearts This is the 2nd edition and other than editing clean-up there are no noticeable changes.

Hunter is a warrior and a great swordsman but he has dreams that foretell tragedy. When a Quest Gathering is called to find the ‘one’ who will save the kingdom, Hunter is eager to participate when he discovers the Seer is at the castle, maybe his disturbing dreams are connected to the horror the seer has foreseen. But the Seer disappears and Hunter sets off on his own quest to find the Seer but his friend/adversary Tome is determined to be the best and handcuffs himself to Hunter. Tome has more reasons to shackle himself to Hunter and is determined to finally shatter Hunter’s shell, so helping Hunter to save the world seems like a good idea but Tome and Hunter face a horror that just might be the death of them both.

This great little fantasy adventure is a smooth read and easy to enjoy. Hunter and Tome have known each other for years but have never quite been friends, Tome is determined to change that, but Hunter can’t quite forget the past that colors his feelings. As the two set out on the adventure together Tome finally cracks Hunter’s carefully crafted shell and Hunter finally accepts the feelings that Tome invokes in him. Together they face an adversary that they never expected and their relationship is changed forever.

I really enjoyed this story for its interesting storyline and for its simplistic setting, the world is written simply without too much information or too many characters to bog the story down. Both Hunter and Tome are interesting men, when the story starts out they both seem to be friendly adversary’s but it soon becomes apparent that there is a lot more to their relationship, a lot of which is based in the past. The story is all from Hunter’s perspective but we get a great feel for Tome, we see how Hunter works through his feelings and the worry he has over the role he has set himself. Tome is much simpler to watch, he wants Hunter to be his and is aggressive in his pursuit, which is fun to watch, both characters can be a bit arrogant at times, but they fit the storyline perfectly.

The storyline is great and you pick up what is happening easily, you get a good idea of who the baddie is and we see things connect together well, so it leaves you in no doubt that the plotting within the story has been going on for some time. The development of Hunter’s and Tome’s relationship is kinda sweet and heats up pretty well, there is also a slight D/s element that sneaks in from nowhere and surprises as both characters seem quite dominant but it adds a little spice. The adventure is pretty tame but the actual foes that are being fought are sneaky and eerie and the conclusion of the story is exciting.

I recommend this to those that love fantasy adventure, great characters, a slightly twisty storyline and a blossoming love.

Climax and conclusion of a powerful series

This book is the denouement of the five book series. Each new challenge that Kara has been presented with is more difficult and more life-changing than the previous one. The one thing we know for certain is that she will never quit and never give up. In this book, however, she doesn't do it all herself, she has the help of family and friends who have themselves grown into pretty competent and compelling defenders of the innocent.

We learn a little more background about the Olympians, as well as some hints as to the origins of the Jotun and Titans. Not everything about the series is wrapped up with a neat bow, but we leave the series with the certain knowledge that Kara has devised a way to defeat any challenge, In the last book she figured out how to defeat a ship full of Jotun, and she has now learned how to defeat a ship full of Titans.

We learn that there is an even older and more powerful civilization somewhere who were responsible for the origins of the Jotun and the Titans, but we leave the series serene in the knowledge that somehow Kara will figure a way to defeat any challenge the Asgard encounter. As much as I would love to see the series continue, I must admit that this book is a fitting conclusion--very well written and suitably dynamic and dramatic.

Last line: "I could hear the drums pounding in my head signalling the end of an era, and I turned my head to the stars wondering what was next for the Valkyrie of Asgard."

Awesome read!!!!! totally worth your money and time

Well if you are a fan of The Valkyrie Chronicles then I don't need to tell you how awesome is the book and that you need to read it ;)

Now for those of you that are reading this review in hopes that it will give you an idea if buying the book it's worth it then let me tell you, it's definitely worth it. Although I strongly recommend you start in the first book in the series you won't regret it. I love the way the story grabs you from page one and you find yourself immerse in this wonderful universe of well developed characters and story lines. You will get mythology, history, fantasy, action, adventure, romance and much more. I enjoy how the author gives us so much in the books, compelling characters that you find yourself cheering for, crying with them, fighting with them and simply hopping their loves and dreams will come true.

oh well just read them I know you wont be disappointed and also if you have the time check the other books the author have published, I promise you romance, action and fantasy awaits ;)

Fun!

The Valkyrie Chronicles is my favourite Erik Schubach's book series and I find this last part the most enjoyable, although different than the previous four.

All the lovable characters are back, Kara is amazing as always, but in this book she shows her other side. Here she is not her usual impulsive self, she is surprisingly patient and she relies on her intellect more than on her brute force. For the first time in the series, the opponent, the evil, is represented as a person, and I must admit that at times she was quite... well, delightful. I believe there will be more of her in the spin-off series, because there are some important questions left unanswered at the end of the book. I look forward to the new series and the new adventures with these awesome characters.

The book is very well written, keeps the readers attention from page one, and is sprinkled with wit and humour throughout. If you're a fan of fun sci-fi twists on Norse mythology with a pinch of Greek gods, check it out. I mean, who isn't?!
