Super Series

Somehow I stumbled into this series (I am a keen Regency M/M buff) and despite the fact that each novella has an occasional punctuation, spelling or grammatical mistake here and there, quickly became enchanted. The plots and the MCs in each novella are similar enough in content and style as to allow me to simply post the same review for all five--but I gave four stars to some and five to others. The sex scenes in most of them are quite off the charts.

WARNING: Do not believe any reviewer who says these are stand-alones. You will miss half the fun if you don't read them in order.

ALMOST AN EQUAL: This establishes the pattern--hunky mid-30s Duke of Byworth suddenly thrown into a situation with his right hand man Henry that has them falling in lust and love while the duke's wife is cheating on him. We are introduced to several characters who will continue to pop up in future tales, but this one stands on its own as a pacesetter. I liked both characters but this one could have used a better portrait of the duke on the cover.

BARELY A MASTER: What I first thought was a despicable character in the first book, the Duke of Lewes, turns out to be quite a different and very conflicted piece of work in this one. His complete infatuation with his beloved "Archer," former favored rent boy who disappeared but whom readers will know has disguised himself in the employ of the Duke of Byworth, sets the stage for a mildly dom-sub scenario that works. The cover of this one is perfect.

HARDLY A STRANGER: This one's cover is perfect, and the entire series depends upon a the long-lived dependency and love between Ambrose, the Duke of Staines, and Francis, his footman and friend and eventually lover. Staines runs the biggest private club in London where the men of the entire series, and those who prefer women, can come to wine, dine and play. Francis is his protector and also self-taught surgeon, and the way they play off each other and keep control of the series and its MCs is remarkably astute.

JUST A DREAM: The two youngest MCs, Rafael and James, bring us a sweet love story which has all the heat but somewhat more charm than the others and in many ways is a perfect palate cleanser between the more intense third and fifth books. Realisitic cover.

NEVER A GENTLEMAN: Two complete opposites--banker Victor Knight and secret spy Earl of Beecroft Daniel Williams are temperate and social opposites, this is perhaps the most believable coupling of the quintet because the men have reached their mid-30s at personal loose ends. That the plot introduces some employment loose ends which threaten to drive them apart, this has more heart-tugging than the rest, and it not only works for this novella, but also ties up the series very nicely. Perfect depictions on the cover.

Ahhh...... Intense, Passionate M/M Journey!!!!

This is part of The Hunt Club series.

This is my first novel by Heather Boyd, but it definitely won't be my last.

I love m/m genre, and especially when it is a historical romance and this author did not miss the mark!!!! The taboo of being with another man in this time period, the intensity that usually surrounds the encounters are what draws me to this genre.

We are introduced to Victor Knight, a hard-working banker who has been single since his former lover became indignant and aggressive over Victor's long working hours. Victor is distracted by issues happening with the Bank, while spending the evening at The Hunt Club, when he is approached and propositioned by Daniel.

Ahhh Daniel Wellham, the handsome rugged spy!!!! He has secrets, but revealing them could put anyone close to him in jeopardy. He has admired Victor from a far, for quite some time, and decides to bite the bullet and approach Daniel. He propositions him quite boldly. What ensues is a passionate first encounter between the two gentlemen, that leaves them both reeling and very pleased with how well they get along and in-tune to each other.

There is, of course, the ever present villain and Daniel's secret mission that keep the two Hero's from fulling committing to each other. The writing is flawless. The story doesn`t drag.

I LOVED this journey with Victor and Daniel!! It was intense, passionate, heart-wrenching at some parts, and very heart-warming. Victor and Daniel were a perfect combination of sweet and bold. They were very well suited for each other. I was rooting for them!!!!!

I would recommend this author and story!! I look forward to reading more about this series and other stories by the author.

As some of you know Heather Boyd is one of my very favorite historical romance authors. I tend to get just a little bit giddy when I find out she has a new release. She does a fabulous job writing historical romances whether they are male/male romance or male/female romance, I always devour them quickly.

Never a Gentleman is another fine example to showcase the talent that Ms. Boyd has. I was completely hooked on this book from the beginning to end.

Daniel Wellham leads a very dangerous secret life that makes it very hard to let other people in. However he takes a chance on his attraction to Victor Knight. Victor leads a very hectic life that most people don't understand. He's a very busy banker and has a lot of responsibility that he takes very seriously.

These two gentleman take a chance on each other and become involved. They are quickly steaming things up a bit a the club and Victor's apartment. Neither of them wants to share a whole about the problems in their lives. They quickly grow closer and closer and then something happens that causes a bit of a problem for them. If they are going to be able to make this relationship work they have a few things they must over come first.

Daniel has a dangerous life that leads to plenty of drama and suspense in the story. I don't want to give away too much. I will tell you that I was on the edge of my seat at times wondering how Daniel was going to get himself out of each mess.

Victor also has a problem that leads to some drama and reveals some unsuspected evil plans by someone that he knows.

Over all this is one really hot, steamy historical male romance with a lot of drama and suspense thrown in as well.

Heather Boyd is one of those authors that can write a historical romance story that instantly grabs my attention and hangs on to it all the way though. I always enjoy her books and I will be anxiously awaiting her next release.

This book was great, my only argument is that it is literally made up of five sentences of things the main characters wants to be. It's not a problem - I just wish the Arabic Club Readers series could tell you what each 'color level' means. Pink must mean the absolute easiest. My daughter likes it as it is, but it's just not a long read.

My Childhood Love

All of us have that book which we remember fondly from childhood, that one book we saw in the school library which we wish were ours so we could keep it in our own private place and read over and over again. Van Loon's Story of Mankind is that book for me. Van Loon does a tremendous service to the study of history. Even though this is a childrens book Van Loon does not ignore or alter the facts of history so that he can comfort instead of educate the child who may be reading the book. And even though the book reads like one big bedtime story, Van Loon always tries to remain objective and never force his opinion on the reader. When he talks about Napolean he makes it very obvious that he does not like the man or what he stood for, but he also tells the reader that his grandfather fought alongside the man and that he(Van Loon) would have probably fought alongside him as well, that's just the kind of man Napolean was. At an age where you will believe almost anything told to you, especially by a man who has written a book, Van Loon tries to give the child both an appreciation for history and a sense of objectivity about events. This was one of the first books, if not the first book, that showed me that everything is not always black and white, good and evil, but shades and gradations of good and evil. I read this to all my nephews, and when they don't know what to read I hand them this book, hoping it will make them a wiser person for listening to Van Loon's lessons.

Why Van Loon Is Desperately Needed Today

THE STORY OF MANKIND is a delight. Contrast its wit and insight with the typical history textbooks to which our young are routinely subjected--as ably described by education historian Diane Ravitch:
"The dullness of history textbooks is legendary. I am involved right now in a study of history textbooks, and I must say that I have trouble reading them because of their jumbled, jangly quality. I also have trouble lifting them because they are so heavy and overstuffed with trivia and pedagogical aids. With one or maybe two exceptions, most textbooks put more emphasis on visual glitz than on the quality of their text. By the time that these books emerge from the political process that is called state adoption, they lack voice and narrative power. They lack the very qualities that make historical writing exciting. Our history textbooks are distracting, and I don't know how students learn anything from them."
Van Loon's book won the first Newberry Prize, quite an achievement for a book on world history. "The Story of Mankind" remains a great read for any child thirteen and up (and up).

Just-in-time printing gone very wrong

This book is no longer being printed the old-fashioned way. This version is now a just-in-time book. Which means ALL THE ILLUSTRATIONS ARE MISSING. Even the ones that are necessary for the text to make sense. This version of this book is a total rip off. Some one got really sloppy and didn't deliver a complete file for printing. I recommend buying a used version of this book.

An immersive autobiography

Am looking forward to the second book. The writing style is comfortable and descriptive and I found the book immersive and enjoyable. For whatever reason, I found the conflicts very engaging. Seeing conflict through the eyes of a child can be a compelling experience, and I felt immersed in those scenes very much. I do feel that this book is preparing/building for bigger events that will be described in the second book. So then, I await the second book...

OK, I haven’t read the entire published version. I was privileged to read the author’s first draft, AND, I observed parts of the story while Kevin was actually living them out. This book is a divinely touched inspiration! Get the book and be greatly encouraged that a higher force is with you, no matter to what depths you might sink. As Hamlet quipped, “There’s a divinity that shapes our ends, rough-hew them how we will.”

Solid book, much better than most "no money down" hype.

I received an advanced copy of this book and read it over the last few days. It's got a lot of solid ideas, nothing novel or amazing, but good for beginners who may not know the various strategies. Most "no money down" books (and seminars, and tapes, courses, etc.) are so full of hype and B.S. that they're aggravating. This book was not like that. It had solid information that one can actually use, along with good "case study" type examples for every suggestion presented.

Two things that detracted from the book, IMO. The first was minor, but the author constantly was referring to other articles he'd written on BiggerPockets, and having footnotes to these other articles. Unless one was willing to go to their browser and type all these in and read them, it felt a little silly to have. If the content of those articles were worth being in the book, add them. If they weren't, cut that. But constantly being like "go read this" made me question why I'm reading the book instead of those articles. Like I said, it was a minor thing, and some people may even like that. The reason why I took off a star is that I feel like the book missed some basic no money down strategies. Subject to wasn't even mentioned in the book. Nor was a wrap mortgage. I can understand why the author might not advocate for these, given his stance in the book on only doing owner financing on free and clear properties, but to not even mention these strategies (and the corresponding risks, and let the reader decide if they wanted to take those risks) made it feel like it was missing things. It felt that either the author didn't know about these strategies or that they were deciding for the reader that they shouldn't invest this way (which is, of course, a bit condescending), so not even bringing them up; I'm not sure which it was.

All in all, it's a good book and I think many investors, particularly new ones, will learn a lot from it. If you've ever wanted to know - without B.S. - how you can buy real estate with other people's money and create win-win scenarios, this book will absolutely teach you to do that. And, in the end, that's probably all that matters. I'd recommend it.

Get the book, pass on the audio.

I give the book 4 stars and the audio book 2 stars so I averaged it out with 3. The book has great information for beginners and gives nice examples that can really help new investors understand the concepts. I was not impressed at all with the audio book. If it would have been in Brandon's voice with his natural enthusiasm for the topic I would have provided 5 stars. The reader did not seem excited or understand how to pause and explain certain concepts. It just didn't have a good flow and was missing proper emphasis where needed.. Brandon, redo it with you reading!

I wish I had this book 20 years ago

Taking control of your life through real estate investing seems to be a selling point of television since the last run up in property values. America is enamored by these “flipping” shows however most do not talk about what it actually takes to make it in Real Estate investing. A glossed over highlight which takes place over 30 minutes is no way representational of the reality. But it does make for good TV, right?

Brandon Turner gives a real world approach on how you can go about investing in real estate even if you don’t have the traditional way financing a property or do it on your own. He explains real world strategies, giving examples on how to get it done without the fake promises that have made millions to those pitching the idea on late night infomercials. All the topics that Brandon covers in this book could have books all on their own. Still he gives you the critical information you need in a way that’s simple for you to understand on how you can get what you’re trying to do done. And to me that’s very important. I’ve read a number of books that the author does a poor job of getting their message across. Brandon excels at covering the topics with a simplicity that few have mastered in a lifetime of writing.

I’ve been investing in real estate since 1998. Brandon has given me insight and showed me ways through this book that I could have done much more in less time. This book is a tool. And like any tool it takes commitment from its user to master its use. Mastering only a few sections within this book could have an incredible impact upon anyone’s life. I just wish I had this book 20 years ago.

Cherri is an exceptional writer with lots of good advice to share. if you are truly looking for your exit strategy I suggest you start here with Her Exit Strategy. Cherri shares her personal story of overcoming many different obstacles to get where she is today, and gives advice from her personal experiences.

Thank you Dr. Olukoya for yet another divinely inspired work. Truly a blessing in my life. The reality of Matthew 13:25: "While Men slept the enemy came his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way;" is manifested in our lives daily by the hardships we have experienced in life. We take our dream life or the lack of it for granted but your insightful revelations in this book has allowed me to understand that vigorous, fervrant prayer is the key to reversing the wicked seeds that have been planted by the powers of darkness during our sleeping states. No longer will I allow the tares of the enemy to be sewn alongside the fruitful wheat of my life. In the name of Jesus and by the power if the Holy Ghost I cancel every negative demonic dream and I cover myself and Dream life in the blood of Jesus. Amen!

A Great, Approachable Motivational Book!

I've seen Madison on the Million Dollar Listings show, and on Patti Stanger's dating show. But I feel that I got to know another side of Madison after reading this book-and it was delightful to get to know him.

The book wasn't an overwhelming revelation, but I gave it five stars because the language (and the stories) were very approachable, and Madison's energy jumps off the pages. Although I'm not a realtor, I learned tips that will help me (and others) in any business endeavor. And that's the heart of the book-learning mental, emotional, and practical tips to succeed in anything that you choose.

I'd recommend this as a motivational book.

I found "Activate Your Passion, Create Your Career" to be truly inspirational. After I finished reading it I felt motivated to start working on myself and my career. His tips and advice make my dreams and career goals seem more obtainable. I used his outlines to set my 2015 financial, personal and business goals. One of my favorite points he makes is P.O.P.
